The 2024 Northstar Speed Summit 2.0 event once again brought the Import/Sport Compact action to the dragstrip for the second of two events held each season at BIR. This race gives racers opportunities to test n tune their cars, grudge race against their friends and fellow competitors and compete for a win in the Outlaw, Pro, Sport, and SS heads up classes, along with Index classes, a heads-up Bike, and a bracket Bike class.
Friday was a test n tune day with two qualifying sessions for Outlaw, Pro, and Sport. Saturday morning was qualifying sessions 3 & 4 and time trials for those in SS, Index, Bike classes and offered open test n tune for those not competing. After a short break to allow The Tripple Track Shootout competitors their time on the strip to gather points for their multi-faceted competition eliminations began and winners were crowned with trophies, checks, and BIR bucks. Congratulations go out to our number one qualifiers, winners and those who posted personal best elapsed times and speeds.
In Outlaw the number one qualifier was James Ruben in his 91 240SX who posted an 8.663 et. Top speed in the class went to Fuji Fang who ran 160.56 mph. The finals in Outlaw were Fang & Ruben with Fang overcoming a reaction time disadvantage to take the win with a 9.469 to 9.669.
The winner in Pro was Cameron Haas in his 99 Civic who ran a 9.462 at 157.47 to defeat Gary Erickson in his 94 BMW. Hass was also the number 1 qualifier and his 157.47 was the top speed in the class.
The Sport top qualifying spot went to Peter Lee in his 93 Civic with a 9.161 at 154.53 mph. The finals would put Lee against Xue Yang in his 00 Civic. Yang left the line with a definite starting line advantage but had issues with his car and Lee was able to get to the finish line first running 8.930 at 155.35 mph, his personal best run, his first 8 second time slip and getting the win
In Super Street (SS) Chris Hodge in his 73 Nova defeated Jason Seling in his 18 Mustang.
Sportsman Bike was won by Cody Stromwell on his 07 Suzuki when Jason Fulin on his 17 Yamaha left the starting line before the green turning on the red light giving Stromwell the win.
Pro Bike Winner Paul Flynn ran 8.552 at 180.31 on his Hayabusa to defeat Cole Albold on his 14 Honda who was fighting issues with his bike and wasn’t able to make a full pass under power.
The Index class winners were: 10.0, Brett Dewall in his Integra. 11.0, Jackson Metzger in his 20 Audi. 12.0, Fue Chang. 13.0, Kha Truong in a 24 Integra Type S. 14.0 David Xiong. 15.0 Alex Brodsky in his Eclipse. 16.0 Cody VanderHeyden in a 08 Ram.
The Index class winners then raced each other in the ICE CUBE- Index Class Eliminator Can U Beat Everyone, The Cube final was 16.0 winner VanderHeyden and 12.0 winner Chang. Chang had the starting line advantage, but it was VanderHeyden taking the win running closer to her index with a 16.044 pass.
