ABOUT US
Brainerd International Raceway is the largest racetrack in the Upper Midwest and may offer the most diverse motorsports schedule anywhere. With a world-class drag strip and two road course configurations (one is 2.5 miles and the other is 3.1 miles), BIR hosts drag racing, road racing, endurance racing, Superbike racing, drifting and autocross competitions, cruising events, and car shows. It even has a small lake in the campground for watercross, where snowmobiles race on open water.
BIR is also home of the BIR Performance Driving School, which offers a number of driving programs, including one-day classes for those who want to learn how to handle a car at high speeds.
But the main draw at BIR is the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals, which makes its stop at BIR in August each year. The world’s best drag racers pilot the fastest dragsters on the planet in front of 100,000 crazy fans. The pits are always open and those who camp in the infamous Zoo Campground celebrate the end of race day like no other.
BIR, which is wedged between State Highway 371 and North Long Lake, also features 12 Deluxe Condominiums and The Wheelie Bar & Grille, which is a full-service bar and grill.
Rustic camping is encouraged in a campground that includes 164 full-service RV sites.
